To establish a partnership between IFIC and the International Scientific Forum on Home Hygiene (IFH, www.ifh-homehygiene.org) in order to provide IFIC members with a resource through which they can obtain information and exchange knowledge and views on infection prevention and control in home and everyday life setting.
Goals
To raise awareness of the importance of infection in home and everyday life settings
To support the development and promotion of infection prevention in home and everyday life, both in developed and developing countries
To ensure that infection control practices carried out in these settings are based on sound scientific evidence
Objectives
To give IFIC members access to scientific data on hygiene in home and everyday life settings
To make available resources through which IFIC members who are practising hygiene professionals can obtain guidelines/training resources etc on hygiene practice in home and everyday life settings
To give IFIC members access to information and knowledge on hygiene issues such as the hygiene hypothesis and antimicrobial resistance.
To develop a forum through which IFIC members can share views and information with each other and with IFH on infection prevention in home and everyday life settings
To gain an understanding of the needs of infection control practitioners in supporting their work on infection prevention in the community
To work with IFH to develop strategies to improve infection prevention in home and everyday life settings
Where opportunities arise to work with other IFIC SIGs (e.g SIG safe child birth) with similar objectives
Functions/Activities
Assembling a database of IFIC members with special interest in infection prevention in home and everyday life settings
Sustaining contact with SIG group members through regular email alerts, newsheets etc
Making IFH resources on infection prevention in home and everyday life settings available through the IFIC website
Assembling a database of other existing materials on infection prevention in home and everyday life settings
Establishing an electronic system for sharing of information and views on infection prevention
Where opportunities arise, organising sessions on infection prevention in home and everyday life settings at IFIC and other conferences.
