Prof. Dr. Walter Popp
Walter Popp qualified in medicine at the RWTH Aachen.
He worked over 6 years at the Miners? Association Hospital Bochum-Langendreer (Ruhr University of Bochum, Germany) and got a specialization in Internal Medicine. 1989 he went to the Institute of Hygiene and Occupational Medicine of the University Hospital Essen, Germany. There he got specializations in Occupational Medicine, Hygiene and Quality Management in Medicine.
He was member of the MAK commission in Germany for 10 years (corresponding to the TLV Commitee).
Since 1999 he is Director of Hospital Infection Control at the University Hospital Essen and chief of the Department of Hospital Hygiene. Additionally, he is medical director of the School for Disinfectors of the Fire Brigade Essen and of the Instruclean Academy, Duisburg, Germany.
Since 2006 he is member of the board of the German Society for Hospital Hygiene (Deutsche Gesellschaft fur Krankenhaushygiene, DGKH).
