Professor at University of Valparaiso and University Mayor in Epidemiology and Infection control. She has participated in many national and international projects, research and committees in Infection control and in the National Nosocomial Infection Program in the Ministry of Health. She also is the current President of Chilean Society of Infection Control and Hospital Epidemiology, Surveyor of National Infection Program and Quality Assurance and consultant of  Pan-American Health Organization. She has been also responsible of edition and publication of national guidelines in Infection control. She has made presentations at many international and national meetings. Her current research interests focus primarily is on risk factors of hospital infections, especially in blood stream infections and surgical wound infections.
